FCAHS Students Page at MS Capitol

Post date: Feb 23, 2017 8:42:52 PM

Sophomore Payton Ryals and Senior Madison Thornton spent a week at the MS Capitol as pages to Representative Chris Johnson (MS House District 87 and FCAHS Class of 1996). Payton and Madison observed House sessions and assisted representatives with various tasks.

Payton described her week: "Paging for Representative Chris Johnson was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. While paging, I ran errands around the capitol. I would go from printing in the basement, to the Senate side to drop something off, or anything that a representative or the head page asked me to do. I learned a lot in session, and it made me realize about how much representatives actually do. I am so thankful for the opportunity that I had to see what actually goes on in the world of politics."

Madison summed up her experience: "Serving as a page was a fantastic blessing for me. I loved witnessing the legislative process in action, and I sincerely enjoyed the informative experience and lifelong connections that I gained through interacting with the legislators. I am thankful to Representative Chris Johnson for this illuminating opportunity."

Thank you, Payton and Madison, for representing FCAHS well!
