FCAHS Receives Jumpstart Grant

Forrest County Agricultural High School is excited to have been chosen as one of 22 Mississippi high schools to implement the Jumpstart Test Prep program. Jumpstart Test Prep provides ACT test prep for students. The focus of the $150,000 grant is to improve science and reading scores on the ACT for juniors who will be taking the state-mandated ACT in the spring of 2020. A previous Jumpstart grant that focused on English and math test prep showed that participants greatly increased their scores in those areas.

The 2019-2020 pilot program will provide teacher orientation prior to the release of materials in January 2020, streaming video tutorials, online review exams, and workbooks. Juniors are encouraged to take the ACT in the fall prior to receiving their materials so that they will be familiar with the exam and for comparison purposes.
