FCAHS Students Attend Alcorn State High School Day

Four FCAHS students attended Alcorn State University's High School and Community College Transfer Day on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Pictured are Joliyah-Onna Varnado, Jaylen Johnson, Kayunna Thurmon, and Kayvon Thurmon. This annual trip is sponsored by the Hattiesburg/Pine Belt Alumni Chapter. Students toured campus and met with campus officials to learn more about attending Alcorn State University.

Joliyah-Onna Varnado said that the visit was amazing. "The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The campus tour was a home welcoming to any student that plans on attending Alcorn. I enjoyed being there, and I am ready to get [back] there already!" Varnado said.

Alcorn is the oldest public historically black land-grant institution in the United States and the second-oldest state-supported institution of higher learning in Mississippi. Alcorn is located between Natchez and Vicksburg, about three hours from Brooklyn.
